Directions

By Boat:  From Oyster Bay, stay outside of the red nuns 2, 4, and 6 and they will lead you  to Bell 8 which is Target Rock.  Target Rock is the rendezvous point for many of the local regattas held between the several clubs in Huntington and Northport.  From Target Rock head Southwest to the entrance of Huntington Harbor at the Lloyd Harbor Light.  To the West of the Light is Lloyd Harbor which offers an excellent anchorage and shelter.  The entrance to Huntington Harbor is quite narrow and has a jog to the left around a sandbar at Wincoma Pt.  Stay in the channel because at high tide the seawall to your right is submerged just below the surface.   Head directly for the red flasher pilling opposite Wincoma Point then turn slightly to port  and you will find yourself in Huntington Harbor.   At low tide you will want to come fairly close to the pilling before turning because the sandbar extends out quite a way into the channel.  

Huntington Harbor provides an assortment of marine facilities.  It has at least four yacht clubs all with both dockage and moorings, town docks and several marinas offering both slips and moorings.  It is a very busy harbor with both working boats run by the clammers and oystermen and sail and power boaters.  Traffic in and out of the narrow entrance can get quite interesting sometimes. Follow the channel markers around the bend to the left.  Knutson West's, West Shore docks will be on your right just past Wyncote Yacht Club.  To get to the main offices and mooring field continue South towards Huntington Yacht Club, just opposite the club take the bend in the channel to the right and you will be heading directly for the Knutson West mooring fields.  The main offices and boat yard are a conspicuous blue on the East shore of the harbor.   We monitor channel 9 on your VHF.
